From the "forbidden knowledge" aspect all the way up to the grotesque entities; this movie has it all for cosmic horror fans. The plot is maddening. Scenes that feel like they're repeating; driving the viewer from irritation all the way to to hysterical. The plot moves along as a good and even pace as we follow our character through the confusing maze that is this film. I love the aspect that our destinies are already written, and no matter how hard we fight the idea of it; it's all going as planned. The movie is unnerving and generates feelings of dread. The film does a great job at revealing story info as our protagonist (Trent) learns it, too. I love the concept of time loops and use of madness in this movie. That's why for me; this is a hit and definitely added to my "favorites" category. See more Big D @Drazker Jan 31 I'm going to be particularly harsh on "In The Mouth of Madness". This entire movie felt like a knock off brand Stephen King movie, and they had the audacity to mention him several times and I'll get to why that's a problem. This film has 70's level practical effects at best (Cheap-O's), Saw almost no monsters, they just happened to "Leave it to the viewers imagination" for most of the runtime, huge buildups with no reveal. The only reason this movie is relevant is because of Sam Neill, he carried hard here. Story was corny, moved at a weird pace, and most importantly i felt like they tried to do too much while copying Stephen Kings style, WHILE mocking him. Very frustrating to watch, Lovecraftian done wrong in almost every element.
