Ultimately it doesn't amount to much, but like Starks' drug-induced trip, The Jacket is about the journey not the destination. Go to Full Review Andrew Sarris Observer Mar 17, 2005
The acting is uniformly excellent. Go to Full Review Kathi Maio The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction Feb 28, 2020
The Jacket is definitely one of those jumbles of a movie that I would normally rail against. And yet, in this case, the film still somehow manages to hang together as whole. Go to Full Review James Mottram The List Apr 24, 2019

The film is energetic. But with a rather conventional love story at its heart -- not particularly convincingly acted by Brody and Knightley -- this is one jacket that doesn't fit. Go to Full Review Mark Halverson Sacramento News & Review Aug 7, 2008

nat T @RT01115370 May 8, 2026 I wouldn't particularly recommend this to someone, I watched the whole thing in one sitting but at times it was just boring and nothing really sparked, until he met Jackie as a kid and time traveled to when she was an adult. Which made me question what made him want to produce sexual feelings with her. Isn't it weird? I didn't see any reviews on the movie stating how it enables pedophilic-like tendencies. See more Gi S @Gistevenn Mar 30, 2026 I don't know how i sat thru this whole movie it didn't make any sense to me. Only a 2* because adrien brody is a good actor. See more Angello D @CriticAngelo Mar 8, 2026 The sci-fi felt pretty hand-wavy. It’s cool, but it never really explains how the mortgage is what makes him travel through time. Sci-fi can still be sci-fi without throwing in things that happen for no clear reason. See more Farah R @Farah Sep 22, 2025 The Jacket's messy and incoherent plot results in several plot holes and a far-fetched ending. Luckily, the acting is good enough to keep you watching. See more David B @KingofBelAir Sep 4, 2025 A true hidden gem. Makes you appreciate the acting the perfect choice of destination scenes and the production and direction was all top notch. Hollywood really needs to hire tomhoughtful writers and directors such as produced this film. It's a well thought out psychological thriller and strange love story. But it all works. Top marks. See more M7AMD A @M7AMD Oct 20, 2024 It's not entirely a bad movie but it could have been way better, there were a lot of plot holes and things that didn't make sense in the movie, however the ending was emotional See more Read all reviews
