Despite its stated obsession with all things "peculiar," there's little about this movie that is actually surprising. It comes across like a movie going through the motions of setting up a franchise, not a movie eager to bring you on a wild adventure.

Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom

i loved the film and had read the book series before it, i believe the reason the end seemed less put together than the beginning is because it was completely different to the 5 books that come after the first half of the film (book 1) and took out really important plot and characters. loved the new ending and it still worked in that world and really showed the characters without making them toned down in their personalities

I love this movie, one of the best I've ever watched! It delivers "terror", drama, romance, friendship and much more, for Tim Burton lovers I highly recommend it! I haven't stopped watching since the first day I saw it, too good.

The themes and style are unoriginal, but it's an enjoyable watch. Discovering this world alongside the lead is captivating; you too want to find out what happened and how this universe works. Sadly, the film's mechanics are too obvious as it relies on the whimsy of the visuals and premise but neglects to focus on the characters and emotional stakes: the romance feels obligatory, the climactic action scene is a clunky mess, the parents just disappear, and even the closure with Grandpa is hasty.
