Ever since its broadcast in the 2000s, the TV anime Mononoke has enjoyed enduring love from its passionate fan base. The story follows a mysterious character known only as the Medicine Seller, who travels to exorcise specters -- mononoke -- that spawn from human passions and grudges. Following Mononoke the Movie: The Phantom in the Rain (2024) and Mononoke the Movie: Chapter II - The Ashes of Rage (2025), the sweeping narrative set within the Ōoku finally reaches its ultimate climax. Throughout all three chapters, the story is set against the backdrop of the lavish and grand Ōoku. A major highlight of the trilogy is its unique structure, where the focus shifts to women of increasingly higher rank with each installment.
