Alain E @AlainE 1d An unexpected finding. The movie esthetically recalls the Andy Warhol movies from the 60s and 70s with much superior cinematography. To my surprise I see that it is financed by a state agency in Putin’s Russia. It definitely does not convey a positive view of Russian society. Two girls who just graduated high school travel on their own to Crimea so one can meet for the first time her estranged father. She doesn’t like what she sees, so at a moment’s spur they decide to switch names, thus the title. They spend the next few days dancing, drinking, taking part in a smuggling operation, arguing and eventually reconnecting without a happy ending. The two girls and the man playing the father deliver first rate performances. Colors and lighting are very accomplished. The summary in RT makes it sound that possibly incest takes place. It does NOT! The guy is a lousy father, but not evil. The director is female, which I think improves the handling of this difficult situation. See more Read all reviews
