Following the sudden death of her best friend, Debbie, Laine finds an antique Ouija board in Debbie's room and tries to use it to say goodbye. Instead, she makes contact with a spirit that calls itself DZ. As strange events begin to occur, Laine enlists others to help her determine DZ's identity and what it wants. As the friends delve deeper, they find that Debbie's mysterious death was not unique, and that they will suffer the same fate unless they learn how to close the portal they've opened.

my favorite film genre is terrible horror, i find that even if you seek out the worst, you can still find something entertaining in it all. this movie however, wasn't entertaining in the slightest. the plot was painfully generic and half the lines were so predictable i could quote the movie almost 1-1 on my first watch. this movie tries so hard to be something, but it falls flat on every single attempt.

I already knew I was going to get a bad horror movie. But my autistic self made a joke in the concession stand that was offhanded not knowing the plot. That turned the whole movie into a comedy. My joke predicted the plot. And it was hilarious. But even knowing all that it was still really bad.

Clearly an unpopular opinion but I really like this movie! It’s got some decent jump scares and anything with Lin Shaye in is a winner for me. An easy 4 stars!

Synopsis
