CJ J @RT69840865 Apr 27, 2025 It takes independent film makers to actually have the cajones to make a movie like this. I guarantee you you’ve never seen anything like it, but if you like the off-the-wall antics for your movie night, you could surf online for days and not find anything close to this one. A genre mash-up of musicals, zombies, “Bring it On” and Russ Meyer movies, director Pat Higgins has created something that defies description. And once the cheerleaders get ahold of a chainsaw, well, that is when you know for certain that the fertile minds behind this one perhaps utilized the very best and most select mind-altering substances to their best use. But there is one thing I can tell you for sure - you’ll love it or loathe it. There will be no room in between, even for indie film aficionados. The film is populated with lovely one-liners and campy moments. The plot revolves around a TV talent show with the competition including a cheerleader group, a magician and a boy band. The musical numbers are fun and inspired, including a number called "I am just a guy dying on the floor". Charlie Bond and James Hamer-Morton both shine brightly as the leads and are well supported by a strong ensembles cast. The supporting characters in the cheerleaders and the boyband are great and you get to see their individual quirky characters, and the unique dynamics of each of the groups, each character is well thought out and have their moment in the sun before most of them hysterically meet their end. The cheerleaders, led by a feisty Charlie Bond, deliver great comedic timing and physical prowess, while the boys led by James Hamer-Morton channel smooth and classic boyband vibes. Pat Higgins’ direction showcases masterful command for the genre, combining colorful visuals, a fast-paced narrative, and an extra dose of fun. “Powertool Cheerleaders vs. The Boyband of the Screeching Dead” is a gloriously funny, blood-soaked musical extravaganza, so strap on your seat belt and enjoy the wide ride. The movie has a lot of strong scenes that I enjoyed watching and which were very comical. The movie is written & directed by Pat Higgins. I’m not really sure which category I’d put this movie in… but it’s funny. The movie has fun dialogue and drama and crazy scenes. It was also shot in a very cool way with many scenes that are insane to see and experience. The storyline pulls you in many directions as you're watching this movie.. I thought all the lead actors all had great onscreen chemistry– they were great together. The sets are great for an indie movie. I look forward to what this director and filmmaker has coming up next! Check this movie out! You’ll remember it! Lol Scary and funny and crazy!!! POWER CHEER! See more Alec C @RT99326505 Jan 31, 2025 Pat Higgins’ laugh-out-loud schlockfest is visually stunning with a fantastic soundtrack! The musical numbers are the best thing about this film, only because they’re so good. (The cast can really sing!) That said, it’s got a great colorful pulpy look, with some great practical VFX. Plus lots of chainsaw slashing and blood. Fans of zombies, and The Rocky Horror Picture show won’t be disappointed. See more ETHAN M @EthanMinsker Dec 20, 2024 When a cursed amulet transforms their rival boy band into a screeching horde of undead, a spirited group of cheerleaders must use their wits, friendship, and a wild arsenal of power tools to survive a talent show gone apocalyptic. This award-winning festival favorite is a horror-musical-comedy mashup that’s as inventive as it is entertaining. Written and directed by the talented Pat Higgins and starring the charismatic Charlie Bond, this film is a love letter to creativity and genre-bending cinema. Equal parts musical, apocalyptic action, and cheerleader vs. boy band showdown, it also delivers a healthy dose of comedy. While the “zombies” in question defy traditional labels, their antics provide a hilariously chaotic twist on the undead genre. With its vibrant colors, fast-paced thrills, and clever moments of fourth-wall breaking, this is a film designed to put you in a great mood. Grab some popcorn (and maybe some chocolate), settle in, and prepare for a ride full of surprises. It’s best experienced firsthand—spoiler-free—for maximum impact. A must-watch for fans of quirky, energetic storytelling with a lot of heart! See more Dan H @RT11345891 Nov 6, 2024 Powertool Cheerleaders vs The Boyband of the Screeching Dead is an indie horror-comedy-musical that’s as wild as its title suggests. It follows waitress Emily, who must overcome her fear of cheerleaders to lead a misfit squad in a TV talent show. Things go haywire when a cursed talisman turns their boyband rivals into zombies, forcing the girls to use friendship and power tools to survive. The film is packed with self-aware humor, catchy but campy songs, and practical effects that shine on a budget. It’s chaotic, clever, and wonderfully trashy, with fourth-wall-breaking antics and meta references. A love letter to Troma-style horror and a fun, bloody romp for those who enjoy campy musicals with a twist. See more Read all reviews
