I get why the toothless guy cast himself as a failed writer, though the self-awareness stops there. The story doesn't hinge on horror but on humor. (If this WAS supposed to be scary or thrilling, add that to the pile of failures.) Yet, the attempts at being funny...like, I know what you're doing, you're trying to be "so cringe" that the "cringe" is the funny part, but you're no Tommy Wiseau, bud. The characters are also not "charmingly awkward" or "obnoxious but captivating," they're just thoroughly unpleasant as characters AND as actors. (Chris Redd gets a pass here but geez, he deserves so much better than this mess.) I spent most of the runtime looking at the remaining runtime. Of course, it's all a "metaphor for the writing process" but that doesn't land at all. It's also not some feminist thesis because man blows up at woman over misogynistic bs.
