Critics Consensus

A flawed yet fun and fast-paced space adventure, Solo: A Star Wars Story should satisfy newcomers to the saga as well as longtime fans who check their expectations at the theater door.

A rowdy, exciting and truly exhilarating adventure which, although not perfect, still manages to bring out the small girl or boy in its adoring fans after all these years.

What's onscreen simply isn't magical enough. It might please die-hard fans to know how Han got the last name or how he made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs...But I think even they might be disappointed.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is not the perfect Star Wars film, but it's one I’ll gladly accept.

Directed by Ron Howard, the action and vitality of the franchise starts to kick in about half way through. Once it does, the ride is thoroughly enjoyable.

The heart of the "Star Wars" films has always been about delivering an adventure that would inspire the imagination of the 12-year-old in me, something that paid homage to the old action and fantasy movies I loved. "Solo" delivers on that.
