Set ten years after the events of "The Phantom Menace," the Republic continues to be mired in strife and chaos. A separatist movement encompassing hundreds of planets and powerful corporate alliances poses new threats to the galaxy that even the Jedi cannot stem. These moves, long planned by an as yet unrevealed and powerful force, lead to the beginning of the Clone Wars -- and the beginning of the end of the Republic.

The computer-generated effects dazzle, and the story, while complicated in the manner of a comic-book serial, clips along at a decent pace. Go to Full Review

"Attack of the Clones" has a lot of plot to pack into its 145 minutes, and so the film feels flat and perfunctory at times. Go to Full Review

Enrique R @EnriqueRamosLovesMovies 3d Star Wars: Episode II- Attack of the Clones is a pretty hilarious bad movie. The love circle between Padme See more Peter V 3d Attack of the Clones enters the Star Wars saga with an opening crawl that immediately signals a tonal shift—one that, unfortunately, doesn’t ignite much excitement. When the first words of a space opera revolve around "taxation," "separatists," and "senate debates," you can feel the momentum stall before the film even begins. A crawl is meant to launch the audience into adventure; here, it feels like being dropped into the minutes of a committee meeting. That’s a tough foundation for any story to recover from. The film’s narrative leans heavily into political intrigue, but without the sharpness or urgency that makes political thrillers compelling. The stakes are enormous, but the storytelling rarely conveys urgency. The seeds of the Clone Wars, the manipulation of Anakin, the erosion of the Republic—these are rich narrative threads, but by the time the action finally ignites in the third act, the film feels like it’s compensating for two hours of buildup that never quite paid off. See more Benjamin W @Code70 Jan 11 Man, I don’t know how, but George Lucas couldn’t even live up to the low bar set by The Phantom Menace with this follow-up. It’s somehow an ever messier film, with the plotting being less clean, and the dialogue being even weaker. There’s some good ideas in here, but the execution is mostly terrible. Anakin and Padme’s relationship is literally unbelievable, the CGI is just as bad, the acting arguably even worse this time around, and the story still fails to be compelling enough to forgive any of this. The lightsaber sequences are once again awesome though, and there’s an occasional good scene or two, but overall, Attack of the Clones reinforced and even strengthened the disappointment of the Prequels following TPM. See more James E @JamesE167 Jan 5 This has some high highs and some low lows, but it progresses the story well. See more Bob J @GametimeD Dec 19 good cgi and good acting but wth is this romance See more TheMovieSearch R @TheMovieSearch Dec 14 Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones expands the prequel saga, focusing on Anakin Skywalker’s emotional growth, Obi-Wan’s investigation, and the rising tension in the galaxy. Lucasfilms succeeds in deepening character arcs while building political intrigue, though newcomers may find the complex plot overwhelming. The CGI and world-building are impressive, showcasing Coruscant, the Clone Army, and large-scale battles, but some dialogue-heavy scenes, especially the Anakin-Padmé romance, slow the pacing. The screenplay is uneven, with moments of brilliance in action and intrigue offset by awkward lines. Despite tonal inconsistencies, the film develops essential storylines, setting the stage for Revenge of the Sith. While not perfect, it captivates fans with familiar good-versus-evil stakes, memorable sequences, and critical context for the saga. It’s a compelling, if flawed, continuation that bridges the prequels and highlights the journey of Anakin and the galaxy’s fate. See more Read all reviews
