In 2003, Harvard undergrad and computer genius Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg) begins work on a new concept that eventually turns into the global social network known as Facebook. The Social Network is genuinely a great film. The story holds your attention from start to finish, and it’s far more intriguing than you’d expect from a movie about building a website. David Fincher does an incredible job exploring the psychological layers of the characters, revealing their motivations and conflicts through dialogue and actions. The film’s back-and-forth structure shifting between different timelines kind of gave me slight Oppenheimer and Memento vibes, though maybe that’s just me, haha! The cast is outstanding, each performance bringing a different shade of intensity and vulnerability. And the score? Perfect. It sets the mood in every scene and elevates the tension beautifully. Overall, it’s a solid film that captures the messy intersection of ambition, politics, and the corporate world.

I honestly don’t know any American movie with better dialogue since the year 2000! Written by mastermind Aaron Sorkin and directed by visionary David Fincher, The Social Network is a modern cinematic masterpiece. The incredibly fitting yet unconventional score by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross (Nine Inch Nails) perfectly underscores the film’s cold, pulsating atmosphere. And the cast? OMG – every single actor is outstanding. Each character comes alive with remarkable depth, making the film almost overwhelmingly immersive. The opening scene between Jesse Eisenberg and Rooney Mara, in my opinion, is the best way to start a film — sharp, witty, and brilliantly written. Dialogue, acting, and direction at the highest level. The Social Network is simply unparalleled.
