See more Terry D @RT96549005 Sep 17, 2026 "The Big Sick" currently featured on Amazon Prime Video is a great story based on the real relationship of Pakistani stand-up comic Kumail Nanjiani and a North Carolina woman named Emily Gordon as a romantic comedy with real drama. He is a fledging comedian (and Uber Driver) and she is a therapist student he meets. He must decide whether to pursue his love of his life or marry a Pakistani girl his family mandates through setting up unplanned meet and greets over family dinners with single Pakistani women. The performances by Kumail Nanjiani and Zoe Kazan are fantastic, and their chemistry is undeniable. The film tackles serious topics like cultural differences and illness with grace and humor while managing to strike a perfect balance between comedy and drama. The supporting cast, including Holly Hunter and Ray Romano, are also excellent and add depth to the story. "The Big Sick" is a must-watch film that will leave you feeling uplifted and inspired.
