[It] works more often than not because Nicholson—Jack’s grandson—does what he can with his major and mostly thankless part. Go to Full Review

The Deputy is slightly better than some of its like-minded contemporaries within the space of routine crime thrillers featuring obvious villains and a criminal conspiracy. Go to Full Review

As messy and flawed as its bungling main character, this "cool kids" collaboration is all the more disappointing because it feels like it could have been the next Fargo. Go to Full Review

The Deputy is a diverting, mildly humorous police thriller whose cast and crew all put in work that is solid and unworthy of criticism, but is also unworthy of particular praise. Go to Full Review

Isn’t a good movie—indeed, it’s kind of a mess—but it’s also rather fun, in a guilty-pleasure sort of way...a slow-moving, convoluted crime yarn streaked with dark humor that holds one’s attention even as it lumbers to a sadly predictable conclusion. Go to Full Review

tm11999 M @tm11999 23 hrs ago RT has made a plethora of a-hole critics out of morlocks who wouldn't know a good story if it bit'em on the behind. a good story......is a good story, you morons. the kid is perfect, everything that happens and the entire supporting cast are perfect too. everybody gets exactly what they deserve in the end. watch this movie. See more Sally L @moviesandmayhem 2 days ago Tbh the saving grace of this movie was the supporting roles who shone brightest despite very little screen time (Billie Lourd, Daniel Diemer, hell even Julia Fox!). Tiffany Haddish, per usual, relied on the same annoying energy and stand-up persona she brings to everything instead of actually creating a character. Stephen Dorff is one-dimensional and it felt like he phoned it in. And Duke Nicholson failed to bring the emotional nuances of his [poorly-written] character to fruition, though I'm not sure anyone could with this writing... I'd like to give him another chance but based off this, it feels like another nepo baby gamble gone very wrong. See more Monoj D @Mr_Billions 4 days ago The Deputy is a dark and engaging crime mystery thriller with a strong small-town noir atmosphere. Duke Nicholson delivers a restrained but interesting performance as rookie deputy Toby Sawyer, who gets pulled into a dangerous mystery after a dead body suddenly disappears. The investigation slowly reveals corruption, hidden secrets and criminal connections, keeping the story intriguing. William H. Macy and Tiffany Haddish add solid support to the cast. The movie mixes mystery, crime, action and dark humor while maintaining a gritty atmosphere. A stylish and entertaining crime thriller with an intriguing mystery at its center. 🔥🎬 See more Wedge A @RT18861882 4 days ago Low budget, but worth the watch. Devin Ross is great. See more Red I @RT64971855 5 days ago The MC has ZERO charisma.. it's like they put a random junkie from the street to act. He either needs a shave or a full beard but this dirty look he has doesn't work for him.. the script is shit. the action is shit. It's a mediocre B movie. See more Read all reviews
