Assumed to be dead and left alone, Matt Damon's character is brought back to life by mere coincidence. As he is challenged by the restricted supplements to sustain him until the next voyage arrives, the martian leaves no stone unturned to overcome his desperate situation. While the stakes are high and promise a dramatic conflict, the movie neglects the intricasies that such a sequestered situation would entail. The Martian persistently outsmarts any challenge, regularly aided by iteams that are buried on the planet. The sort of gamified tools that are stored in the ground are utilized to solve high-stake issues and equally serve as a leitmotif for the futile ground that resists expiration but function as a seed for new life. The character Kapoor assumes the fair observation in regards to the immense psychological struggle the Martian must be faced with, but the movie has no concern whatsoever to account in the distressful circumstances, instead reveling in a comedic angle of survival.

I love this movie. This is another one of my comfort movies. Watched it countless times. I think this movie is actually what got me into Andy Weir. After I watched this movie I read the book and also loved it. His writing is inspiring. Such smooth storytelling. The cast is full of wonderful actors that really bring a lot to the movie. Re-watchability is obviously super high for me. If I could go back and see this in the theatres I would in a second. The only thing that could have made this better is if he too ended up with an alien buddy.
