Alison T Dec 17, 2024 Witty, smart story with charismatic characters. See more GGL Dec 3, 2023 Great story and great chemistry movie actors. See more Kyle M @RT77296778 Sep 23, 2026 Daniel Craig and Kenneth Branagh each portrayed a detective across their respective trilogies invited to investigate stylistically differentiating cases with an ensemble cast and intellectual craft to captivate like a mystery with heightened yet sophisticated stakes to consider whilst cleverly obscure twists and turns. An imprinted impression when discovering their professional descendant manifested by a couple with dramatically convincing chemistry and impressionable intelligence that indicates its storytelling formation by polished execution, while its own gimmick is prophetically meta satire followed by its significant twist. Smartly told with humanely considerable humor, but the figurative paper trail is indifferently convoluted that deters enhanced attraction albeit the minimally decent entertainment it offers which was easily transcended by the aforementioned mystery films suitably fascinating contemporarily. See more Victoria A @RT87366546 Jun 30, 2026 The genius pairing of Loy and Powell...enough said. I can never thank Dashiell Hammett sufficiently for these characters or everyone involved in the production for their work. Nat Pendleton is so underappreciated, Lieutenant Guild lives forever. See more Matthew D @OceanSage Apr 22, 2026 A charming husband and wife detective duo! Director W.S. Van Dyke’s crime-comedy mystery The Thin Man (1934) holds up because it is an intriguing mystery, but a truly delightful comedy starring a loving marriage between a brilliant detective husband Nick Charles and his adoring clever detective wife Nora Charles. It feels modern and feminist at Myrna Loy is simply a joy. William Powell is very charming as the cavalier detective Nick Charles. His casual manner and constant drinking to get his wife to stop drinking so much is very funny. He’s got this devil may care attitude, yet he’s very doting towards his wife. Loy herself is gorgeous and lovable as Nora Charles. She’s so insistent on being involved in the case that she becomes a real detective in her own right. She’s a loving wife that cares for her husband, but also feels like her own woman with her own tastes and humor. Her scrunching up her nose in jest at Powell, while he playfully mocks her back is a cute thing between them. See more Read all reviews
