Critics Consensus

The scenery and the stars are undeniably beautiful, but they can't make up for The Tourist's slow, muddled plot, or the lack of chemistry between Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie.

A bland, badly directed, star-driven cinematic molestation of Jérôme Salle's tight-as-a-drum 2005 French thriller Anthony Zimmer.

The tone is lightly comic, the dialogue flirty and amusing but the performances are unengaged. There's no floor of reality, as there always was in a Hitchcock film, even his light confections.

It's a dull, tedious romantic thriller with clumsy twists, serving only as a banal pretext to reunite the chemistry-less couple Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp amidst cosmopolitan elegance. [Full review in Spanish]

With a dash of humor and some Hitchcock-esque directorial flourishes, the film’s scenario could have been fun. But the production takes the lazy approach and leaves the viewer palpably aware of it.

But even with its good-looking cast and locations, “The Tourist” is too shallow, too flat, and ultimately forgettable.

Beautiful locations & pleasing visuals, with a story that's just... there.

Am I the only one who liked this movie? I remember watching it with my brother and sister and we all had a good time watching it. Sure the pacing was slow but I think Depp and Jolie were delivering good performances. I even fell for the shock ending where it was revealed that Depp and her made the plan together all along.

The Turist (2010) is just a really confusing movie that you can't fit any piece into this crazy puzzle. The star-studded cast isn't enough to get a five-star audience for this.
