Critics Consensus

Though predictable and somewhat dramatically underwhelming, Trouble with the Curve benefits from Clint Eastwood's grizzled charisma and his easy chemistry with a charming Amy Adams.

For all its occasional tin ear, Dr Phil dialogue, its contrivances and shortcuts, this remains a fundamentally sound and solid entertainment with a deep-rooted conviction that how we treat each other matters. Go to Full Review John Wildman Film Comment Magazine May 12, 2014
The good news is that Eastwood does his thing to perfection, Adams provides the spunky cuteness, and Timberlake couldn't scrub his eager charm off with a Brillo pad if he tried. Go to Full Review Anthony Quinn Independent (UK) May 12, 2014

Robert P @Superbad Sep 24, 2026 Trouble with the Curve = a *3* star Movie! See more ICUR M @icurmtheaded Sep 8, 2026 Why do I do a guy cry during Clint's movies? He leans into the advanced age and story of the character. Combined with baseball and other nostalgia, including the advent of computer statistics over human relations is done very well in this nicely crafted film. See more Edward K @Edko426 Sep 6, 2026 Good movie! Heart warming family drama. Clint always makes any film. And the beaitoful and wonderful Amy Adams! Love her. And Timberlake! Hes a good actor and interesting to watch. Well written, directed, acted. Good ending. Recommend! See more Stephen C @bob25009 Jul 12, 2026 The worldwide gross is $48,963,137.00. More of a father daughter story than a sports story. More sport and less drama would have been great.
