Critics Consensus

It's nowhere near as inventive as its off-the-wall premise might suggest, but Turbo boasts just enough colorful visual thrills and sharp voice acting to recommend as undemanding family-friendly fare.

There's the odd giggle and diverting adult support from Samuel L Jackson, Snoop Dogg and Paul Giamatti but the ideal audience age range here is knee high to grasshopper.

The animated races are fast and fun, the jokes are hip without being too snarky and the starry voice cast is super.

The graphics are colourful and kinetic in a souped-up computer game sort of way, and there's pleasure to be had in watching the racetrack zoom by at full throttle.

The snail-eye view of burning up the racetrack at 200+ mph is thrilling; you'll think, 'Why am I getting this excited about an oxymoronic fast snail?' Finding one's bliss is magical!

Closer in tone, spirit and achievement to Pixar's Cars, the earnest Turbo is content just to provide a lot of fun.

Turbo might need to get more speed to be slower

DreamWorks on autopilot. An animated film with an absurd premise that gets lost in a generic script—derivative of *Cars* and devoid of any originality. It’s worth watching for the colorful race visuals, but the charmless characters and weak jokes make for a tedious experience.

Magnificent! Dreamworks delivers again. David Soren shines in directing this fantastical tale. Great cast all delivers convincingly in voicing their respective characters. Amazing cinematography and visually stunning. Lots of fast paced action, clever wit, drama, suspense, anticipation, emotion, intrigue and hilarious interludes. Clearly an epic adventure, very entertaining and captivating
