Masterfully using negative space and unsettling audio to build its creeping dread, undertone erupts as a diabolically immersive aural nightmare.

Despite an original premise and an effective unsettling atmosphere undertone delivers a somewhat muted horror experience that may appeal to fans of slow-burn, moody fare.

Minimalism and maximalism can’t coexist, at least not here. Instead, “Undertone” is like getting to the climactic moment of your favorite horror podcast, only to have the terrifying impetus interrupted by a Squarespace ad. Go to Full Review

As Undertone crescendoed through its final act, I found myself pleading for Evy to thrust off her headphones. But Tuason’s successfully nerve-racking film relentlessly suffocates within its inescapable, eerie soundscape. Go to Full Review

Tuason conducts "Undertone" to a fever pitch, a maelstrom of sound and fury that is spookily effective, if frustratingly nonspecific. Go to Full Review

Esteban 3h I feel like the movie didn’t make any sense. The whole plot is a total mix and it takes you nowhere. I didn’t expect much cause it’s already a horror movie, but I was hoping it would offer a big scary scene at the end. See more Caden 6h it is a very slow movie. that isn't a problem, but it does get a little too slow at times. The sound design is great and probably the highlight of the movie. See more Chuck M 8h i felt the film did not satisfy the build up and environment it initiated. no payoff. unlikable main character as written. a swing and a miss. See more Nataly 9h Ending was too elusive. See more Christopher 9h Very disturbing and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time! See more vivian 12h eerie but not scary, throughout the movie youre waiting for the scary parts and it just never happens. See more Read all reviews
