Molly Gunn (Brittany Murphy) has never worked a day in her life and has lived like a queen since her father, a famous rock 'n' roll star, died and left her his fortune. But everything changes when Molly realizes that her manager has stolen her money. She lands a job as a nanny for Ray (Dakota Fanning), a young girl whose serious attitude is the opposite of Molly's carefree one. With help from her boyfriend, Neal (Jesse Spencer), Molly tries to bond with Ray and learn how to be an adult.

Though I found Mr. Yakin's direction unexpectedly imaginative, and the script often incongruously subtle, I couldn't get into the spirit of all the whimsy, the reason being the surprising lack of charm in the two leads.

I'm not a huge fan of rom-coms, but this one definitely piqued my interest. The protagonists, so rebellious, bring a necessary charisma to the story. The length of the introduction is perfect to catch your attention. However, it often suffers from a weak script that resorts to superfluous situations for comedic effect. The ending is rather idyllic—why bring the guy back in the final scene? Nevertheless, Brittany Murphy, I don't think I could ever forget your character. Anyway, let it remain a cult film.

This is one of the best movies I’ve ever watched. People who rate it low honestly didn’t understand it. The characters act the way they do for a reason, and once you pay attention, everything makes sense. It makes you laugh and cry at the same time. This isn’t just about a dumb blonde and a mean little girl. It’s about trauma, girlhood, and how hard the world can be. It shows how loss and pain affect the way we behave, how we shut people out when we’re tired of trusting, and how important it is to have someone who truly sees you. It’s not a typical feel-good movie or a rom-com. It stays with you, and honestly, it breaks you a little.

Its a very mature movie even though it sounds lame. Brittney Murphy and Dakota Fanning made a brilliant bonding with each other and both of them are brilliant. It made me laugh and it made me cry. I watched it at least 4 times and it still made me cry thinking I cannor watch Britney Murphy again. she was so under rated. RIP
