What to Know

Critics Consensus

A pair of young, attractive leads can't overcome When in Rome's reliance on unfunny gags and threadbare rom-com clichés.

You know from the start of Mark Steven Johnson's silly, sunny romcom how it's going to end. Go to Full Review Robbie Collin News of the World Jun 30, 2010

Number of record-scratch jokes? Three. Number of walk-into-a-lamppost gags? Two. Number of laughs? Take a wild guess. Go to Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian Jun 25, 2010

This Italian-themed romcom is not quite the most unspeakably-patronising-to-Italy film of all time. That prize belongs to the musical Nine, starring Daniel Day-Lewis. But it runs a very close second. Go to Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Nov 30, 2020

thiago s @Thiagostone Dec 4, 2025 Filme fraco, o roteiro é fraco, as cenas são fracas, a história é fraca, o elenco é fraco, e ninguém ajuda a melhorar o filme, os personagens são fracos, e o filme deveria ter cenas bem melhores e relevantes, para fazer o filme ser bom See more Ed R @JustcallmeER Aug 27, 2025 One of the better romantic comedies you'll watch! See more Bill R @RT64823976 Mar 30, 2025 Beautiful scenery of Rome and NYC, lots of giggles. Watch if you want something unserious and enjoyable. See more WILLIAM f @Bill34 Mar 30, 2025 Not a classic but good for a few laughs with a dumb but entertaining premise and a good cast. See more Christian S @Cstein99 Mar 23, 2025 Very fun light hearted movie! Super entertaining! See more Aye E @RT43717499 Mar 17, 2025 This feels like they didn't bother spending more than a day writing a script then cast any and every recognizable actor or comedian they could expecting that it would make it too big to fail. The star is for Kristen Bell, Josh Duhamel, and Danny Devito who were the strongest characters and performers in this, they are charming despite the material. And it's kind of fun watching it to identify each recognizable face that pops up. But otherwise it's an insult to Italy and comedy. See more Read all reviews
