Critics Consensus

Faithful to the comics and filled with action, X-Men brings a crowded slate of classic Marvel characters to the screen with a talented ensemble cast and surprisingly sharp narrative focus.

The X-Men comic books have spawned a cottage industry of mutant characters, and the movie helps make sense of these legions while offering the established fan base something new to cheer.

Exciting mainly because anything can happen and does, the movie drags a bit as it approaches a climax set on top of the Statue of Liberty. But once there it revives.

This is a film that should satisfy fans of the hugely popular comic book and audiences who can't tell one uncanny X-Man from another. Mutants rule.

It's impressive how much good casting can elevate an otherwise silly concept. Similarly, it's surprising how much more satisfying 104-minute movie can be, as it's not trying to break the storytelling mold.

There are potent motives behind every character, and the actionized plot resembles a morality play more than typical good vs. evil superhero fluff.

Ah yes, “X-men” one of the first marvel films, and what do I say? Watching this film is like watching a historical recording because of how iconic this film is, but I gotta admit this film is a little bit outdated in terms of CGI and some of the lines spoken by the characters. I mean it came out during the 2000’s so it makes sense why it’s a little outdated compared to other marvel films like Avengers infinity war. Hugh Jackman’s performance as wolverine is a 12/10, and I don’t think anyone can’t replace him and Disney is going to make him do this till he’s 90 (at least Disney did one good thing) I like how the plot centers around rouge getting her powers and her trying to control it because of how powerful she is, and rouge’s character is very relatable. Patrick’s performance as Charles Xavier is phenomenal as well and this proves that no one can’t replace him, and this is more easy to sit through compared to other marvel films (*cough* blade *cough*) overall, it’s iconic. 8/10

Very solid superhero movie, doesn’t do anything offensive and lays the groundwork for many more sequels of varying quality

I genuinely could only think of the Deadpool and Wolverine credits while watching. Pretty good stuff. The visual effects were less than admirable, but good for their time I guess. I like how it is not only just a superhero movie, but a political film aswell.

It's great. It has a good balance of action and humor and heartfelt moments. And I like how it was a little cheesy.

For a movie that tried to steer away from the traditional super hero flick, it felt more like a super hero flick upon my xth rewatch. Still a good theatrical debut for the X-Men. #RoadtoDoomsday
