Critics Consensus

A rather generic entry into the arrested development subgenre, with themes borrowed from other more successful and funnier films. Dupree wears out its welcome.

Wilson goes from crashing weddings to crashing newlyweds in a comedy that's as tired as week-old wedding cake.

A bit dull, since Dillon's constrained playing the straight guy, Hudson has little to work with, and Douglas looks bored.

You, Me and Dupree is a slight, meandering comedy that, much like Dupree on his wobbly bicycle, spins its wheels but doesn't get far.

You, Me And Dupree is a film that is almost instantly forgettable. Even now, a few hours after watching it, I'm struggling to remember character names...

Total BS on the consensus. Nothing quite like it and it’s hysterical from start to finish, albeit a few dragging, non-funny segments

I don’t know why this movie gets so much hate. My husband and watch it every couple of years and quote it all the time. It’s the stupid funny that you need after a long week. Owen Wilson plays the chaotic friend from single days who comes to stay with the newlyweds for a day or two that turns into weeks. Michael Douglas is the real estate developer/father in-law from hell. Seth Rogan has a bit-part as another weird friend reminding you why you decided to grow up in the first place.

You, Me and Dupree is a hilarious film featuring Owen Wilson and Kate Hudson, blending various comedic elements. The story revolves around a father and daughter who are welcoming the new son-in-law into their home, only to find that the quirky best friend Dupree, played by Wilson, has also decided to join the fun. While the movie does have its flaws, particularly with some unresolved plot points, it still delivers plenty of laughs. The antics of Dupree are especially memorable, especially his amusing obsession with Mandy. In the end, the film is packed with amusing moments and entertaining scenarios that keep you engaged. With a touch of humorous nudity and a strong cast, it’s a delightful watch that’s definitely worth your time. If you're in the mood for a good laugh, this film is a must-see!
