It’s all beautifully observed, uproariously funny. Go to Full Review

...in Youth, [Sharon Horgan] blends wicked humour with genuine pathos - about ageing, the state of modern manhood, parenting, loneliness and more – in a wry, awkward, poignant and resonant way. Go to Full Review

The premise suggests a heavier show than Youth turns out to be. It is in fact a delight: precise, witty and defiantly silly. Go to Full Review

...Youth whizzes by on snarky energy and earns bonus marks for its realistically unsentimental depiction of the mother‑son relationship and its honesty about how shouty and disconnected from reality teenage boys can be. Go to Full Review

mike H @RT86601314 6 hrs ago None of the characters stood out to me as someone I would like to know. I guess I get the storyline of a woman in her 50's and that stage of life. But what a downer, if that is her life. Maybe it's unfair criticism of a 70 year old man, judging a TV show for 50 year old women. See more Ben L @BennyBen 16 hrs ago Feminist inspired rubbish. More of the badly done by woman ('woe is me') trope which has been done to death (and much more effectively) elsewhere. And, of course, we have the shock value of full frontal nudity - of males only. In a scene in a sauna we have males and females, but the males have their legs apart exposing their genitalia, while the females are with their legs crossed. No vulvas to see here! With a female writer and director, in 2026, sadly this rubbish is not a surprise. See more A Z @Anett 3 days ago Absolutely amazing! 10/10? More like 1 million out of 10! 😂 This show is so funny, addictive, and ridiculously easy to watch. You get so hooked that you actually want to pause it, just so it doesn’t finish too quickly! Sharon Horgan is an absolute genius and makes the whole thing even more brilliant. Funny, clever, relatable and completely addictive. I’m obsessed 🥰👌💯 See more Jonathan M @Jonathan555 4 days ago Sharon Horgan has some comic chops, but she makes her character in Youth so narcissistic, unlikeable and cringey, that it's hard to keep watching. There's nothing enjoyable or funny about it. See more Mel M @Melmag 4 days ago I am LOVING this show so far. Nice to see a fun character like this who is in her 50s. Absolutely hilarious and the acting is fabulous. See more R T @RT40028693 4 days ago Sharon Horgan is undeniably a talented actor, but Youth falls into tired television tropes that feel disconnected from reality. Particularly the show's reliance on the "youth envy" narrative. Women in their 50s are not desperate to cling to their younger years and resentful of younger women. In reality, many women in their 50s experience a profound sense of freedom rather than insecurity. The scene where her friend calls young bartenders "prostitutes" feel fabricated for TV drama rather than representative of how real women talk or behave. 29’en don’t do that. MEN do. The family dynamics are difficult to buy into. The protagonist's son is insufferable, but his behavior ultimately reflects his mother's own flaws (what kind of woman raises and celebrates such an inconsiderate, unkind, awful young man? Maybe the type of woman that calls female bartenders prostitutes?) See more Read all reviews
