Biography:

Aaron Dicer published his first review in 1999 for family and friends who knew him as the one to go to for movie opinions and he hasn't looked back since. That audience grew from family and friends to the internet, radio, and television. His goal in developing SiftPop is to provide a community that does the work to dig up the good stuff in pop culture. Aaron currently reviews movies across the country through his syndicated radio show, on TV at KY3 NBC in Springfield, Missouri, and online at SiftPop.com.

Moonfall (2022) 35% 1/5 EDIT “The absolute zero of dumb and the epitome of unintentional self-parody. Not even a few spectacular visuals could keep this movie from completely crumbling in on itself.” – Siftpop Feb 7, 2022 Full Review Scream (2022) 76% 3.5/5 EDIT “Recaptures the balance of meta and murder mystery of the original. While it falls prey to the typical shortcomings of the slasher genre, it's does so with an exuberance that can't help but work.” – Siftpop Jan 17, 2022 Full Review Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) 93% 4.5/5 EDIT “It's astonishing how good Marvel is at playing with their toys. Fan service can be fun when it isn't at the expense of serving characters or story. It can be sheer euphoria when it manages to ENHANCE character and story. This movie is sheer euphoria.” – Siftpop Dec 20, 2021 Full Review King Richard (2021) 90% 4.5/5 EDIT “Will Smith anchors an incredible cast, with scene after compelling scene about the tightrope of parenting towards excellence. More than that, it's just a flat out fun watch.” – Siftpop Nov 22, 2021 Full Review Finch (2021) 74% 3.5/5 EDIT “Simple but effective, the movie asks us to care not because of any big twist, or gigantic set piece, but for the sake of pure human empathy.” – Siftpop Nov 15, 2021 Full Review Eternals (2021) 47% 2.5/5 EDIT “Marvel is the peanut butter of movies, Zhao is the filet mignon of directors, and I just wasn't fully enjoying my peanut butter steak.” – Siftpop Nov 8, 2021 Full Review Last Night in Soho (2021) 75% 3/5 EDIT “A movie full of beautiful visuals that persist fully formed and beautiful ideas that never quite coalesce.” – Siftpop Nov 1, 2021 Full Review Dune (2021) 83% 4/5 EDIT “Complex but coherent. Epic but personal. Drop dead sensual storytelling visually and aurally. As far as half-movies go, this is about as good as it gets.” – Siftpop Oct 25, 2021 Full Review The Last Duel (2021) 85% 3.5/5 EDIT “Though the theme feels out of place contextually, the overall impact lands well through solid performances, intense moments, and a solid Rashomoning.” – Siftpop Oct 18, 2021 Full Review No Time to Die (2021) 83% 3.5/5 EDIT “An underdeveloped villain and wieldy run time can't keep the visual flair and consistent fun from giving Craig a meaningful and compelling send off.” – Siftpop Oct 10, 2021 Full Review Venom: Let There Be Carnage (2021) 58% 3.5/5 EDIT “Tom Hardy knew what movie he was in in the first one, and now the rest of the movie does too. That consistency down the line offers some true bonkers fun, amongst the occasional eye rolling silliness.” – Siftpop Oct 4, 2021 Full Review Dear Evan Hansen (2021) 28% 1.5/5 EDIT “Honestly it's less that he looks too old to be in High School, it's more that he looks too sociopathic to center the empathy.” – Siftpop Sep 27, 2021 Full Review Cry Macho (2021) 57% 2/5 EDIT “It would be fine if the monotonous simplicity was buttressed by any kind of true moral conundrum or compelling character work, but instead we are left to be engaged by a plot that never expands beyond its logline.” – Siftpop Sep 21, 2021 Full Review Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) 51% B EDIT “Though the movie doesn't have the courage to risk anything, it still finds itself in the enjoyable safe space of being a perfectly decent Star Wars movie.” – Siftpop Dec 22, 2019 Full Review Men in Black: International (2019) 23% C- EDIT “A movie so relentlessly mediocre, predictable, and bland that you may end up checking your texts in the theater out of boredom, with the added bonus of possibly getting kicked out.” – Siftpop Jun 17, 2019 Full Review Pokémon Detective Pikachu (2019) 68% B- EDIT “Though more likely to please the Pokemon faithful, there's enough wit, charm, and world building here to catch a good time despite it's various flaws.” – Siftpop May 15, 2019 Full Review Avengers: Endgame (2019) 94% A- EDIT “The word epic gets thrown around so much that we've forgotten what it actually means. This movie is here to remind you.” – Siftpop Apr 30, 2019 Full Review Shazam! (2019) 90% A- EDIT “Zach Levi embodies the childlike wonder of this experience so well, you can't help but go along for the wish fulfillment ride.” – Siftpop Apr 8, 2019 Full Review Dumbo (2019) 46% D EDIT “As brilliant as Burton's visual imagination is, it's practically equivalent to how dull the themes and characters in this movie are. The forced references and shoddy plotting make it too clunky to ever leave the ground.” – Siftpop Apr 2, 2019 Full Review Us (2019) 93% B EDIT “A movie that both rewards and punishes you for watching closely with an astonishing and necessary metaphor, brilliant visual and symbolic film making, but a world that doesn't quite hold together.” – Siftpop Mar 28, 2019 Full Review Triple Frontier (2019) 71% A- EDIT “Chandor somehow takes the machismo of '80s action movies and inserts the moral compass of the 21st century.” – Siftpop Mar 19, 2019 Full Review Captain Marvel (2019) 79% A- EDIT “Oh Captain, my Captain. Brie Larson brings humanity and depth to a role that could have been a typical super hero origin story but instead feels like Marvel is finding new ways to tell super stories.” – Siftpop Mar 13, 2019 Full Review Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018) 62% B- EDIT “Benicio is so good in this and the action so compelling that you almost forget how over the top and problematic the story is... Almost.” – Siftpop Feb 20, 2019 Full Review Ant-Man and The Wasp (2018) 87% A- EDIT “There is nothing ground breaking about what Marvel is doing here, but there is so much fun to be had with these people and this world that nothing was going to shrink the smile on my face.” – Siftpop Feb 20, 2019 Full Review Skyscraper (2018) 48% B+ EDIT “Yes, it's ridiculous. Yes, it's full of impossible nonsense. And Yes, I loved just about every physics defying second of it.” – Siftpop Feb 19, 2019 Full Review
