A century before the events of "Game of Thrones," two unlikely heroes wander Westeros. In an adaption of George R. R. Martin's novella "The Hedge Knight," a young and naive but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg, face a series of dangerous exploits. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and images of the last dragon have not yet passed from living memory, great destinies and powerful foes await these improbable and incomparable friends.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a welcome return to Westeros that works better in the buddy-comedy arena rather than solely slaying its competition.

Audience Says

Way more dopey than GoT, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms offers a refreshing, low stakes return to Westeros anchored by the endearing duo of Egg and Dunk.

If you love and miss this seven-kingdomed world, Dunk and Egg make excellent companions for the return. Go to Full Review

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is a refreshing reset, leaning into the traditions of chivalric tales, as if these characters had walked out of King Arthur’s world. Go to Full Review

Thrilling as it might be to brave the icy clutches of White Walkers, or the sulfurous fires of terrible dragons, it's also nice to spend some time suspended between those two extremes -- to find a mild, temperate place. Go to Full Review

A fantastic prequel that captures the grit and humor of Westeros. Peter Claffey is perfect as Dunk. It starts slow but by episode 3, you are locked in. A more personal, grounded Game of Thrones story. Go to Full Review

There are two reasons that this show works so well, and it's not rocket science. The two reasons are Dunk and Egg. Go to Full Review

It’s certainly a lot better -- more layered and profound -- than the quasi-medieval sitcom slop that was late-period Game of Thrones. Despite the decidedly unpromising opener, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is worth your time. Go to Full Review

Edward L @Glyndower 1h A dull attempt to con GoT fans into wasting their time. The monotone 'Oirish' delivery of the main character is only surpassed in annoyance by the high-pitched whining of his bald sidekick. The heavy-handed 'humour' of the piece mainly consists of characters swearing a lot. Pointless rubbish, See more Lyle J @Lyle1x 9h A return to what made Game of Thrones great, character building through conversations between interesting, relatable figures. No CGI dragons or family orgies shoved in our faces off the jump, as if the writers are saying "Game of Thrones, am I right?!" Egg and Dunc have what's really needed for an epic adventure — heart. See more Rory F @Roryfisher001 9h I love this show. Like someone else said, this is a great reset. Yes it’s slow so far but the writing is great, the characters are interesting, and I like the fact that it’s very realistic and not flashy. People giving this show a 1 star rating have 0 attention span and need to be bombarded with dragons and magic to stay engaged. See more Bill M. @bmcgahey 10h I like how it’s different and less serious in tone than your typical GOT story. Also shorter which is effective in wanting to watch more. The two lead characters are likeable and that’s about it thru episode 2. Huge GOT fan… I don’t love this one yet, but it’s only been 2 episodes so far. Def need to see where it goes. See more Dylan D @Bob5678 16h Love Dunk and Egg so far, I love that we’re taking time to get to know these characters. A nice refreshing take I can’t wait to see more of. See more tim c @tc347415 17h I have seen 2 episodes and I want more. Must see shows must have this. Ser Dunk is a great character I don't think he is as dumb as he seems. He is someone with a good heart amongst the wolves. Egg is a great companion he is full of character and very smart for his age. I like the interactions between these two along with the others. Well written and very interesting plot. Looking forward to great things from Ser Dunk and Egg. See more Read all reviews
