Biography:

I'm a Seattle city girl trying to make it as a film critic and freelance entertainment journalist in the wilds of Washington State. When I'm not watching (and writing about) movies, I also read (constantly), eat out (mmmmm - mexican food), shop (you can never have enough shoes), hang out with friends, play softball & basketball, watch the SuperSonics avidly (even if they do, at the moment, stink) and have far too unhealthy a fascination with Kelly Clarkson.

Favorites:

I hate this question. There are far too many to list.

Mercy (2026) 24% 1/4 EDIT “At least it’s funny. I do have to give Mercy that.” – MovieFreak.com Jan 23, 2026 Full Review 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (2026) 92% 3.5/4 EDIT “Armageddon has rarely been this beautiful. Or this profound.” – MovieFreak.com Jan 16, 2026 Full Review A Private Life (2025) 81% 3.5/4 EDIT “Zlotowski’s frisky handling of the material is difficult to resist, as are many of the romantic and comedic interludes that are liberally sprinkled throughout the proceedings. A Private Life is a lot of fun to watch.” – MovieFreak.com Jan 16, 2026 Full Review Primate (2025) 79% 3/4 EDIT “My stomach twisted in a series of knots that remained there long after the film concluded.” – MovieFreak.com Jan 9, 2026 Full Review Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025) 66% 3/4 EDIT “As much as I did enjoy Avatar: Fire and Ash, I’m ready for Cameron to move on to telling new stories far removed from this one.” – MovieFreak.com Jan 1, 2026 Full Review The Housemaid (2025) 74% 3/4 EDIT “It’s a goofily inspired romp through sex, violence, gaslighting, female empowerment, and bloody revenge, its core events centered around two titanically exuberant performances from stars Amanda Seyfried and Sydney Sweeney that are difficult to resist.” – MovieFreak.com Jan 1, 2026 Full Review Silent Night, Deadly Night (2025) 77% 3/4 EDIT “Nelson deepens the character arcs for his two leads, increases the emotional complexity, and inserts a politically astute layer of pitch-black satirical social commentary that’s often as funny as it is prescient.” – MovieFreak.com Dec 13, 2025 Full Review Five Nights at Freddy's 2 (2025) 16% 3/4 EDIT “Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 offers up pretty much the same gateway horror delights that its predecessor did, and I don’t have any problem with that whatsoever.” – MovieFreak.com Dec 13, 2025 Full Review The Age of Adaline (2015) 55% 3/4 EDIT “Adaline’s story captivated me, heart and soul, her long journey to love’s doorstep a timeless sojourn I was glad to be a part of.” – MovieFreak.com Nov 26, 2025 Full Review Zootopia 2 (2025) 91% 3.5/4 EDIT “The whole thing is a madcap jolt of comedic adrenaline that the whole family will almost certainly love. I know I sure did.” – MovieFreak.com Nov 26, 2025 Full Review Wicked: For Good (2025) 66% 1.5/4 EDIT “Wicked: For Good has precious little in the way of any actual magic. One might even go so far as to call it a bona fide dud.” – MovieFreak.com Nov 21, 2025 Full Review Peter Hujar's Day (2025) 92% 4/4 EDIT “Sachs delivers a picturesque chronicle of everyday life that’s breathtaking in its verisimilitude.” – MovieFreak.com Nov 21, 2025 Full Review The Running Man (2025) 62% 1.5/4 EDIT “I say change the channel and go watch something else.” – MovieFreak.com Nov 21, 2025 Full Review Predator: Badlands (2025) 86% 3.5/4 EDIT “Trachtenberg tips his hat to all of the past stories but refuses to be beholden to any of them.” – MovieFreak.com Nov 11, 2025 Full Review Bugonia (2025) 88% 2.5/4 EDIT “I found Bugonia to be an unrelentingly miserable journey into pessimistic darkness, its viscerally sardonic malice more than I could bear.” – MovieFreak.com Nov 2, 2025 Full Review If I Had Legs I'd Kick You (2025) 92% 3/4 EDIT “As difficult as it may be to watch, and as much as it can assault the senses and create an anxiously icky feeling of abhorrent devastation, Byrne’s career-best work makes Bronstein’s first feature-length drama since 2008’s Yeast absolutely essential.” – MovieFreak.com Oct 24, 2025 Full Review Queens of the Dead (2025) 83% 3.5/4 EDIT “While this is a proud, unapologetic saga of Queer survival, Romero has also brazenly crafted something that speaks to humanity in all its myriad textures, colors, races, and genders.” – MovieFreak.com Oct 24, 2025 Full Review Black Phone 2 (2025) 72% 3/4 EDIT “Even if it doesn’t all quite work, this is a creepily inventive shocker that grows in mournful power as it moves along.” – MovieFreak.com Oct 24, 2025 Full Review Beast of War (2025) 89% 3/4 EDIT “There’s blood in the water, and that’s exactly as it should be.” – MovieFreak.com Oct 13, 2025 Full Review TRON: Ares (2025) 53% 2.5/4 EDIT “There’s little about Tron: Ares, other than Turner-Smith, the visuals, sound design, and the undeniably glorious Nine Inch Nails score, that I’m going to be thinking about for all that much longer than the time it took to write this review.” – MovieFreak.com Oct 13, 2025 Full Review Good Boy (2025) 90% 2/4 EDIT “[This] is an annoyingly sleepy supernatural shocker that never does enough with its intriguing premise to maintain interest. Good Boy is going to go down as one of the year’s most disappointing misfires.” – MovieFreak.com Oct 6, 2025 Full Review One Battle After Another (2025) 94% 4/4 EDIT “A character study full of action, comedy, familial strife, and social and political commentary, the film is a magical tapestry of an America stalled at the center of a perilous crossroads.” – MovieFreak.com Sep 26, 2025 Full Review HIM (2025) 30% 2/4 EDIT “For all its volcanic outbursts and aggressive proclamations of overwhelming victory, HIM fails to score.” – MovieFreak.com Sep 19, 2025 Full Review Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale (2025) 91% 3/4 EDIT “I smiled, I laughed, and I maybe even wiped away a couple of tears, and that’s exactly as it should be.” – MovieFreak.com Sep 19, 2025 Full Review The Thursday Murder Club (2025) 77% 3/4 EDIT “Sometimes all you need is a nice, safe, and utterly pleasant piece of cinematic diversion that doesn’t insult your intelligence and is made with sturdy, workmanlike competence.” – MovieFreak.com Sep 5, 2025 Full Review
