Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022) James Marsh The intention is all there, to address [Boseman’s death] and be respectful, but it goes overboard. The film spends far too much time mourning T’Challa and not enough exploring how moving forward impacts these characters.

RRR (2022) James Marsh It’s an action movie, a romcom, a historical drama and it all works. There’s such an enthusiasm, a shameless bombast to the scale of this story…It’s so exhilarating, over-the-top and explosive…it’s mythic, elemental, larger-than-life…this is pure cinema.

Flee (2021) James Marsh I really appreciate how versatile it is in its craft. It works as an animated film just as well as it works as a documentary. It tells a compelling story in a really accessible and innovative way.

Tick, Tick... Boom! (2021) James Marsh Everything clicked. The performances are great, the music is excellent, I think its directed superbly and the editing is incredibly slick.

Drive My Car (2021) James Marsh It's representative of a kind of storytelling that Hollywood shies away from, fearful that if we don't write it on the wall in blood or neon six feet high people wont get it...Regardless of what it wins, it should be championed.

Don't Look Up (2021) James Marsh I thought this was a brilliant film, the satire was on message. It's this kind of court jester-like satire that I really resonate with, and the cast was spectacular. (Steve)

The Matrix Resurrections (2021) James Marsh I was open to the idea of going back to The Matrix, but I don't feel it was adequately justified. It attempts to get out of the reality that their hand was forced it's just a cash grab by acknowledging it onscreen, but can't get away with it that easily.
