Joker: Folie à Deux
(2024)

Chris Sawin

If you thought the gags in Joker were bad, Folie a Deux chokes, sputters, and flat lines to no applause.

Goodnight Mommy
(2022)
Chris Sawin
Goodnight Mommy (2022) has the skeletal structure of a brain twisting and psychologically scarring horror film. However, it’s been cosmetically redesigned into something so misshapen, hideous, and unrecognizable that it’s a shell of its former shelf.

Mutant Action
(1993)
Chris Sawin
Accion Mutante is a messy and chaotic sci-fi film and an even sloppier comedy, but it’s worth checking out for its ridiculously aggressive and amalgamated "futuristic" mayhem.

The Deer King
(2021)
Chris Sawin
The Deer King is as visually gorgeous as any Studio Ghibli film. But even with its exceptional animation, its storytelling and pacing is lacking as the film seems to prioritize monotonous dialogue and petty human squabbling over anything remotely exciting

Hotel Transylvania: Transformania
(2022)
Chris Sawin
A lukewarm sendoff that mostly feels like a lethargic attempt to recapture its former glory. It's built around an entertaining concept that it doesn't fully capitalize on. It ultimately obliterates character traits for trite gags and cliché punch lines.

Spiral: From the Book of Saw
(2021)
Chris Sawin
Chris Rock has this look on his face the entire film like he put on some pants that somebody already crapped inside of. While Spiral has more elaborate traps and a decent ending, it doesn't take away from the fact that it's boring and predictable.

In The Earth
(2021)
Chris Sawin
In the Earth is like COVID on an acid trip with only Ben Wheatley as your guide, which means that all you can do is clench your seat and wait for the effects to wear off. Whether you like it or not, sh*t is about to get weird.

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run
(2020)
Chris Sawin
It's just as funny, ridiculous, and brilliant as you've come to expect from the Bikini Bottom native. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run stays true to SpongeBob's roots and feels mostly successful in its new three-dimensional format.

The Reckoning
(2021)
Chris Sawin
The Reckoning is like a bad soap opera with a few squirts of blood and an eyeful of lady butt cheeks for good measure. Its two hour runtime caters to indulgent melodrama over horror, adventure, or anything that would actually resemble entertainment

Sound of Metal
(2019)
Chris Sawin
Sound of Metal is so incredibly satisfying. Everything around us is just an obnoxious and noisy cacophony. The world's most beautiful symphony is utter and complete silence. Brilliantly acted with a powerful message that leaves a colossal impact.

The Pool
(2018)
Chris Sawin
The Pool is the type of film that gets more and more ludicrous the longer you watch it. Stupid decisions and horror go hand in hand, but The Pool takes it to unbelievable extremes. Ping Lumpraploeng has become the pioneer of dunce cinema.

Pure, uncut insanity. The film has an attention to the ridiculous and an execution that is borderline brilliant.

The Vessel
(2016)
Chris Sawin
Even with Martin Sheen's impressive Chris Cringle facial hair, The Vessel annoys and irritates more than anything else. The film may be alluring to look at, but it's absolutely torturous to endure and practically unbearable to watch.

The Transformers: The Movie

The Transformers: The Movie has never looked or sounded better (referring to the 30th anniversary edition) and the new bonus features are captivating and amusing. Now if we could just get a similar treatment for G.I. Joe: The Movie...
