Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (2023) Daniel Kurland In a time when sequels are inevitable rather than justifiable, Across the Spider-Verse finds the perfect angle for its story that’s somehow stronger than its predecessor’s mission statement, while also helping it evolve.

Mad God (2021) Daniel Kurland While it seems like Mad God should be a genre and stop-motion fan’s dream come true, it’s unfortunately a poorly paced experiment that’s scant in story and gets lost in its rich world, for both better and for worse.

Fruits Basket: Prelude (2022) Daniel Kurland Fruits Basket: Prelude is a beautiful story about the importance of getting out of your own way and letting yourself be happy; that humans require the company of others and can’t hide away from the world, even when it feels impossible to do otherwise.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie (2021) Daniel Kurland Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is an anime movie that's fast-paced, entertaining, and aesthetically beautiful. Its not a film that functions as a greater allegory for the human condition, but it doesnt need to be. An above-average action movie is enough here.
