The Rip (2026) 80% 5/10 EDIT “Adapting a predictable story, this heist thriller is all-too-familiar, so by the time the 'traitor' is revealed, no one really care...and Carnahan's dialogue is so profanity-laden that it loses all effectiveness, becoming ludicrous, even laughable.” – SSG Syndicate Jan 24, 2026 Full Review The Secret Agent (2025) 98% 8/10 EDIT “Expressionistic, elegiac, yet satirical, sociopolitical thriller...” – SSG Syndicate Jan 15, 2026 Full Review Sentimental Value (2025) 97% 8/10 EDIT “Affecting and exquisite, Joachim Trier focuses on intergenerational differences and familial love - reminiscent of Chekhov and Ibsen in its many melancholy permutations. ” – SSG Syndicate Jan 13, 2026 Full Review The Testament of Ann Lee (2025) 88% 5/10 EDIT “Amanda Seyfried delivers a radiant, remarkable performance although Mona Fastvold's linear biographical musical lacks emotional resonance.” – SSG Syndicate Jan 6, 2026 Full Review Eleanor the Great (2025) 67% 7/10 EDIT “95 year-old June Squibb stars in Scarlett Johansson's feature film directing debut - perhaps more experienced director might have pointed out the script's all-too-convenient. contrived 'coincidences' that tend to compromise believability ” – SSG Syndicate Dec 27, 2025 Full Review Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025) 66% 8/10 EDIT “In the cinematic art of world-building, James Cameron has no peer - and this continues his mythic exploration with motion-capture and digital effects....but it's overly long with often-inane dialogue.” – SSG Syndicate Dec 21, 2025 Full Review East of Wall (2025) 95% 7/10 EDIT “This is one of those low-budget, independent films that win at film festivals but never goes much further - which is a shame - because it's a unique glimpse of contemporary cowgirls living near South Dakota's Badlands.” – SSG Syndicate Dec 16, 2025 Full Review Song Sung Blue (2025) 78% 8/10 EDIT “If you're looking for an uplifting, family-friendly holiday movie - this engrossing, entertaining musical fits the bill - well, almost. Based on a real-life love story, it has its ups and downs - but Hugh Jackman & Kate Hudson are terrific!” – SSG Syndicate Dec 15, 2025 Full Review Marty Supreme (2025) 93% 8/10 EDIT “In Josh Safdie's freely fictional character study, Timothee Chalamet plays an obnoxious, self-serving, self-confident con man/ping-pong prodigy who will lie, cheat and steal to get what he wants....the result is abrasive and exhilarating. ” – SSG Syndicate Dec 15, 2025 Full Review Jay Kelly (2025) 75% 8/10 EDIT “While George Clooney delivers a remarkably self-absorbed performance, Adam Sandler steals the picture, deftly capturing the pathos of a beleaguered manager who has sacrificed far too much for his stellar client over the years. ” – SSG Syndicate Dec 12, 2025 Full Review Wicked: For Good (2025) 66% 8/10 EDIT “Continuing the saga of Magic School pals Glinda (Ariana Grande) and Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) - last seen mid-air 'Defying Gravity' - this is a bewitching conclusion - a two-hour. 18-minute spectacle that's already out-earned the first installment.” – SSG Syndicate Dec 3, 2025 Full Review Train Dreams (2025) 95% 10/10 EDIT “A mesmerizing, lyrical. visually exquisite motion picture about solitude, sadness and community - one of the best of the year.” – SSG Syndicate Dec 3, 2025 Full Review Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (2025) 92% 4/10 EDIT “Rian Johnson's 3rd Benoit Blanc murder mystery is a comatose dud - unevenly written/directed, full of undeveloped Gothic archetypes flitting and out, talking incessantly about morality, philosophy & Christian theology.” – SSG Syndicate Dec 3, 2025 Full Review Hamnet (2025) 86% 10/10 EDIT “Chloe Zhao scores again with this transcendent adaptation of Maggie O'Farrell's heart-wrenching novel, a historical fantasy, about the trials and tribulations that indelibly marked the marriage of Anne Hathaway and William Shakespeare.” – SSG Syndicate Nov 29, 2025 Full Review Bugonia (2025) 88% 6/10 EDIT “Another Yorgos Lanthimos absurd, satirical concept that's beyond bizarre - except, perhaps, to conspiracy theorists.” – SSG Syndicate Nov 29, 2025 Full Review Blue Moon (2025) 90% 7/10 EDIT “Distinguished by Ethan Hawke's masterful performance, Richard Linklater recalls the fateful night that melancholy Lorenz Hart retreated to Sardi's after the Broadway opening of 'Oklahoma!' ” – SSG Syndicate Nov 23, 2025 Full Review Rental Family (2025) 87% 8/10 EDIT “Japanese-American filmmaker Hikari delivers an insightful glimpse into coping with loneliness in a foreign culture, while soft-spoken Brendan Fraser's sensitive performance recalls why he won an Oscar for 'The Whale.'” – SSG Syndicate Nov 22, 2025 Full Review The Running Man (2025) 62% 6/10 EDIT “Edgar Wright delivers fast-paced sci-fi so it's up to Glen Powell to propel the pictures. Since the charming charisma he oozed in 'Hit Man' is barely visible, Powell relies on the physicality he honed working with Tom Cruise in 'Top Gun: Maverick.'” – SSG Syndicate Nov 18, 2025 Full Review Frankenstein (2025) 85% 7/10 EDIT “Sumptuously stunning in its execution, Guillermo del Toro has made a poignant conception of what it means to be human - sanctified by his dazzling visual imagination, particularly his opulent use of shapes and color, reminiscent of Hieronymus Bosch.” – SSG Syndicate Nov 12, 2025 Full Review Nuremberg (2025) 72% 10/10 EDIT “Tightly scripted & confidently directed by James Vanderbilt, the verbal sparring between Malek's psychiatrist & Crowe's Hermann Goring is reminiscent of the manipulative maneuvering between Clarice Starling & Hannibal Lecter in 'The Silence of the Lambs.'” – SSG Syndicate Nov 9, 2025 Full Review A HOUSE OF DYNAMITE (2025) 75% 6/10 EDIT “Suspenseful, scary, speculative and unsatisfactory...a 'message' movie, delineating a dilemma and then leaving the audience frustrated because there's no resolution, no payoff.” – SSG Syndicate Oct 29, 2025 Full Review After the Hunt (2025) 37% 4/10 EDIT “The problem with this prestige ensemble drama lies squarely in the hands of novice screenwriter Nora Garrett's ambiguous. almost incoherent script and Italian auteur Luca Guadagnino's abrasive, frustrating choice to favor excessive emotional extremes.” – SSG Syndicate Oct 21, 2025 Full Review Kiss of the Spider Woman (2025) 77% 6/10 EDIT “Strenuous yet stilted and overly sanitized....” – SSG Syndicate Oct 20, 2025 Full Review The Woman in Cabin 10 (2025) 28% 4/10 EDIT “Since all the awkwardly underwritten characters are cheesy caricatures, why should we care if the protagonist - played by Kiera Knightley - is paranoid or being gaslit in writer/director Simon Stone's silly, soggy saga?” – SSG Syndicate Oct 12, 2025 Full Review The Lost Bus (2025) 88% 7/10 EDIT “Writer/director Paul Greengrass delivers another explosive, survivalist thriller. He knows exactly how to ramp up tension with handheld cameras and rapid cutting - then defuse it - if only momentarily - before ramping it up again.” – SSG Syndicate Oct 11, 2025 Full Review
