This is film noir by way of Gothic thriller, a shadowy suspense thriller in the Victorian era of gaslight and horse drawn carriages on cobblestone streets, and director John Brahm gives the film a lively energy. Go to Full Review

See more Ashley H @ashleyhobgood87 08/06/2023 The Lodger is a decent film. It is about landlady who suspects that her new lodger is Jack the Ripper. Merle Oberon and Laird Cregar give good performances. The script is a little slow in places. John Brahm did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the horror and mystery. See more Bill B 01/19/2023 Sluggish film that doesn't leave much to the imagination. Cregar does well, but I can't help but see Raymond Burr in his performances. I believe Burr picked up where Cregar left off.
