In this documentary, filmmaker Su Friedrich fuses together stock footage from vintage sex education movies, interviews with adult lesbian women and a fictional vignette about a young girl's erotic awakening. The women who appear in the movie relate stories about their earliest sexual experiences, while the dramatized portion of the film focuses on a middle-school student dealing with puberty and developing strong feelings for a close female friend.

07/11/2009 More linear than some of her other films, <i>Hide and Seek</i> is Su Friedrich's artful exposé on adolescent sexuality. Part drama, part documentary, all drawn from real experiences and highlighted with archaic scenes from old sex education films. Typically terrific Friedrich fare. It's a very tastefully made film that could have been the exact opposite with a different filmmaker. Some really interesting, gritty photography here as well that would be of notice to fans of ultra low budget films.
