It is precisely Takeuchi’s deft balance between overt silliness and genuinely thoughtful informative drama that ensures Cells at Work! is a surprisingly entertaining watch. Go to Full Review

Takeuchi is rare among Japanese filmmakers in his ability to make manga adaptations where the characters feel like they’ve stepped straight out of the pages of a comic, rather than a cosplay convention. Go to Full Review

Must watch See more Craig K @craigkerwin Nov 29 Loved every bit of this movie. The backstory. The premise of out body being akin to a Nintendo Switch 2 game. Everything. Acting was great. Costumes and scenery were brilliant. With strong performances, clear narrative, and emotional depth, it educates and entertains while reminding us to value our health. Suitable for all ages, it’s both informative and deeply touching. At the same time, it also reminded me of "Once Upon a Time… Life". And as someone who’s been through chemotherapy, the second half of the movie hit even harder. The cast is great, the direction is solid, it’s colorful, funny, and moving. A real hidden gem! See more Sophia D Jun 21 As a fan of the original anime I think this was not only faithful recreation of the world but improved on the story in quite a few ways. I really enjoyed not only seeing out humanized cells getting their jobs done in the body but the addition of seeing the human we are looking inside. It really shows us the work that these cells do and how they can affect us. I enjoyed the addition of showing us an unhealthy body and showing the body functions that are considered taboo or gross. It was a great perspective. The writing isn't there all the Time and it can be cheesy but it is made up by phenomenal acting. Our main character of Red Blood Cell was phenomenal but who really blew me away was our main girl who we follow. Every time she was on screen I knew she was going to kill it. I was not expecting to cry during this movie but I did, twice. I also really appreciated the work that was put into the fight scenes. Because they could have just had the actors do it with the normal director and call it a day but you could tell not only did they have a proper stunt coordinator but they had practiced a lot. With a lot of the original anime being fights I was nervous going in but it was so well done. It makes me want more anime adaptations but this set the standard very high. I hope this creates a trend of adaptations because it was an amazing place to start. See more Read all reviews
