An absurd horror yarn in which a winged demon goes on a murderous rampage whenever he hears the title tune. (Personally, Phil Collins’ “Sussudio” and Magic!’s “Rude” are the only songs that would make me take a hatchet to someone’s head, but I digress.)

Instantly suspenseful from the start and bolstered by tremendously believable performances from the two leads, this unique flight of dark imagination is a terrific variation on the "psycho from hell" formula and a memorably gruesome horror fantasy.

Jeepers Creepers (2001), the cult horror starring Gina Phillips and Justin Long, asks: does it hold up in 2026? The story follows siblings Darry and Trish on a road trip that turns terrifying after spotting someone dumping body-like packages. It’s a great "what-if" premise, though far-fetched and packed with clichés. The horror is mild—some jumpscares, but nothing truly frightening unless you’re very young. Still, its practical effects feel refreshing compared to today’s CGI-heavy films. The movie’s success spawned a franchise, so it clearly worked then. Today, watch it only if you’re revisiting the series or you’re a horror junkie. Entertaining? Yes. Scary? Not really.

Has one of the greatest opening scenes in any modern horror film. The opening shot. The sibling banter. The decent into the church’s basement. All wonderfully mold together perfectly leading to the Creeper reveal, one I didn’t see coming in 2001-2002 when I first saw it, and ending on a perfectly tragic note.
