It is such a consistently imaginative piece and not just in terms of character design but framing, editing, and the other elements needed to make a stop-motion feature work. Go to Full Review
Richard Whittaker Austin Chronicle 08/05/2021
There is an undeniable dark maturity, stemming from the post-Apocalyptic undercurrent, and Junk Head's search for meaning. Yet there is also warmth and charm amid the grisly monster attacks. Go to Full Review
Rachel Ho That Shelf 07/05/2022
Entirely filmed using stop-motion, Hori’s film has clear influences as far back as Metropolis and as iconic as Alien. The design of each creature is imaginative with a tactile quality, and the subterranean world feels successfully seedy and dirty. Go to Full Review

Expect a blend of everything from CHAPPIE to SILENT HILL to energetic anime as Takahide Hori pours his soul, creativity, and funds into this heartwarmingly steampunkish tale of an amnesiac robot who can and will. Go to Full Review

Ironically tragic and darkly adorable, Junk Head is a marvel of indie movie-making from an artist with an apparelled dedication to bring his vision to life, literally one frame at a time. Go to Full Review

Logan D Apr 18 Humans live longer but suffer infertility issues. An android is sent to the abandoned lower depths to learn how an evolved species reproduces. Virtually a one man job by Hori, this is the firts of a proposed trilogy. Creative and weird. I loved it. The creatures speak a garbled hockaloogy style of language so subtitles are required. I loved the way Hori frames his shots of his miniatures and the design of said figures. Very original. Recommended See more Brad Apr 14 More, please! We need a sequel! See more Matthew H @Batman22 07/20/2024 You'll love this movie if you're into stop motion and like dark science fiction that doesn't take itself super seriously. I'm so surprised that more people don't know about this masterpiece. See more Steve C 04/20/2024 NB. This is not computer animation. It's "clay"-mation. See more Read all reviews
