Natale (Giorgio Listuzzi) and Luisa (Gabriella Pallotti) marry and move in with Natale's family. The young couple are soon at each others' throats when they're unable to get any privacy. Realizing they need their own house but lacking money, they decide to build a house for themselves on unclaimed land. The law states any building with a roof cannot be pulled down, so with the help of friends and family, the pair struggles to build a modest dwelling in one night before the police arrive.

06/08/2016 7.5/10, my review: http://wp.me/p1eXom-2tn See more 04/16/2014 With De Sica films, I quite expect a miserable-to-heartbreaking post-war tale of poverty and struggling to survive. Il Tetto is indeed much like that, but still more light-hearted than his masterpieces I Ladri di Biciclette and Umberto D. For all that, it's perfectly watchable, interesting, brisk enough, just rather lightweight. Good, but not especially memorable. 7.25/10 See more 10/21/2010 for me - a masterpiece.
