On February 27, 2002, India bore witness to a horrific event that forever altered its social fabric and history forever. Bogie S-6 of the Sabarmati Express, carrying many 'Karsewaks', was engulfed in flames by a frenzied mob in Godhra, Gujarat. Amidst the turmoil of that fateful day, Samar Kumar, a young film journalist, found himself dispatched to Godhra's ground zero. He tries to expose the truth, but didn't know that he is going to upset a few powerful people who sit quietly in shadows while actually pulling the strings of the puppet. A few years later, Amrita, a young journalist chances upon Samar's report, a stark contrast to the widely accepted narrative. Let's embark on this thrilling expedition as Samar and Amrita navigate the intricate web of journalism, ethics, and the relentless pursuit of truth amidst formidable threats.

[The Sabarmati Report] steers off somewhere in the middle of the road, makes us question its intentions a couple of times, but comes back on track for the climax. Go to Full Review

The Sabarmati Report is so flimsy in its execution, taking offence to it would be dignifying its existence. Go to Full Review

The docudrama format often slips into theatricality, with scenes feeling unnaturally staged. Real-life footage is woven into the film to heighten authenticity, yet its placement seems almost too aware of itself, leaving us to wonder ... Go to Full Review

It is immersive and engaging, but I somehow felt that Vikrant Massey’s character needed some layers which the movie lacked. Go to Full Review

‘The Sabarmati Report’ holds viewer attention through most of its runtime, but its slightly glossy treatment makes it feel less like a film based on true events and more like a typical commercial drama. Go to Full Review

PARMINDER 11/20/2024 Love the story of the movie See more s m 11/18/2024 Great movie and acting on a tough controversial topic. Well done. See more Rautif D 12/22/2024 Okay, so the filmmaking wasn't exactly Spielberg-level, but this movie packs a punch. It tackles a seriously bold topic, digging into the psyche of a community with a truth-seeking, justifiable story. Think of it as an eye-opener – one that might make you squint a little at organized religion (any religion that champions violence needs a serious reality check). Vikrant Massey continues his impressive acting evolution (the man's got range!), and Riddhi provided solid support. The film does jump around a bit, like a caffeinated cricket fan at a nail-biting match, but it nails the core message. Speaking of cricket… ahem… some scenes hit close to home. Growing up in Ranchi, seeing India lose to certain neighbors and then witnessing celebrations… let's just say it wasn't my favorite flavor of chai. It always felt like a pinch of salt in the wound. There was this palpable superiority complex within my community, with friends casually dropping lines like, "We ruled for centuries, you know." (History lessons at family gatherings were interesting.) The movie commendably tries to balance things out with a message of harmony, which is like trying to mediate a fight between a cat and a laser pointer – challenging, but admirable. It deserves major kudos for tackling a subject buried under layers of falsehood. Hats off to the filmmakers for bravely wading into this particular historical minefield!
