Magic in the Moonlight (2014) Austin Kennedy This is exactly the type of screwball fluff that would have been found in cinemas during the 1930s.This is the perfect movie to see on a nice, breezy summer day. It'll make you feel good.

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) Austin Kennedy I'm disappointed that I didn't like it as much as everyone else, but that doesn't mean I didn't like it. I thought it was fun. It's decent. It just didn't blow my socks off.

Chef (2014) Austin Kennedy It's charming, funny and real. CHEF is perfect counter programming for this overcrowded blockbuster summer.

Ghostbusters (1984) Austin Kennedy GHOSTBUSTERS is a movie that I've seen well over a hundred times and I'm still not sick of it, nor do I think I ever will. It's an iconic comedy that I think has held up very well over the past 30 years.

Beach Blanket Bingo (1965) Austin Kennedy How anyone can be in a bad mood after they watch this would be beyond me. A great cult classic!

The Navigator (1924) Austin Kennedy THE NAVIGATOR is a text-book example on how to execute slapstick and sight gags. I would say that this film, even more so than THE GENERAL, is a perfect introduction to the films of Buster Keaton.

Hot Fuzz (2007) Austin Kennedy It's a perfect spoof of the once popular action genre, that's highlighted by the chemistry of Pegg and Frost.

Pardon Us (1931) Austin Kennedy Whether it's Ollie mugging the camera as he breaks the fourth wall, or Stanley doing his double and triple takes, these guys are brilliant.

Young Frankenstein (1974) Austin Kennedy It's a wonderful, iconic comedy. Mel Brooks' masterpiece!

The Raid 2 (2014) Austin Kennedy It's top-notch, martial arts action, filled with exhilarating ultra violence and an intricately compelling story. Gareth Evans has created an action masterpiece!

Walking With Dinosaurs (2013) Austin Kennedy Man! And I thought GROWN UPS 2 was bad! WALKING WITH DINOSAURS is an absolute chore to sit through. Do not waste your time and money on this during the holiday season.

Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) Austin Kennedy This is easily the Coen Brothers worst film! But, that's just how great their other films are. I still liked it, and I'm sure I will enjoy it more with repeat viewings.

Saving Mr. Banks (2013) Austin Kennedy It's a crowd-pleaser of a film that features an iconic performance from Emma Thompson. This is a perfect film to see over the holidays. Bring the whole family!

American Hustle (2013) Austin Kennedy At the end of the day, most people will be talking about the actors, not how clever the con was. It's not a masterpiece, nor the next big thing. But it is a decent film, full of great acting, a surprisingly amount of humor, and a cool 70′s vibe.

Thor: The Dark World (2013) Austin Kennedy Marvel has seemed to turn Thor into one giant joke. The plot is a mess, the effects look cheap, and Kat Dennings' annoying character practically dominates the movie. THOR: THE DARK WORLD is one major letdown!

How I Live Now (2013) Austin Kennedy Instead of showing Daisy and Eddie falling for each other through genuine interaction, we just get lots of montages of them giving googly eyes at one another. It just didn't fit with the raw nature of the film's tone.

Dallas Buyers Club (2013) Austin Kennedy It's not a perfect movie, but this hard-edged film ends up being fully engaging thanks to another powerful performance from McConaughey.

Blue Is the Warmest Color (2013) Austin Kennedy It's not a masterpiece. Almost every scene could have been shortened by at least 10 seconds, but the 2 lead actresses bring an undeniable power to their characters making this a very honest, raw, intimate and genuine love story.

About Time (2013) Austin Kennedy Not only is this a great romance, but it's also a great Science Fiction film filled with some hilarious, charming and heartbreaking moments. With all the downbeat movies coming out this Awards season, it's refreshing to see a movie this delightful.

Man of Tai Chi (2013) Austin Kennedy Keanu knows exactly what kind of movie this is, and doesn't pretend for a second that it's more important than it really is. It's a solid kick-ass martial arts movie, nothing more. I miss movies like this.

Machete Kills (2013) Austin Kennedy I found it to be an improvement over the original. The energy is higher, the action is crazier, and the humor is more evident. I had a hell of a good time with this.

Romeo & Juliet (2013) Austin Kennedy If you're going to adapt a story that has been told countless times, you better direct the hell out of it! Instead, the filmmakers have just made something mediocre. And that, my friendS, is a sin in the world of filmmaking.

Muscle Shoals (2013) Austin Kennedy If you're a music buff, than MUSCLE SHOALS is a must-see! It's a well made Documentary about an important time in music history that's informative, poignant, funny, and always engaging.

Gravity (2013) Austin Kennedy Cuaron has made a cinematic landmark that features mindblowing effects, relatable characters, and a career best performance from Sandra Bullock. GRAVITY is easily the best film of the year so far

2/4
Rush (2013) Austin Kennedy RUSH has some well crafted racing sequences, but the two lead characters are a pair of the biggest jerk faces! Good direction doesn't mean anything when you couldn't care less about its unlikable, egotistical characters.

Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 (2013) Austin Kennedy It's visually impressive. However, that script just doesn't have the unexpected magic of the first one.

Enough Said (2013) Austin Kennedy This bittersweet romantic comedy is a low-key breath of fresh air. Something different to offer than your typical Blockbuster or Oscar-bait movie that populate the multiplexes during the Fall movie season.

When Comedy Went to School (2013) Austin Kennedy With its cheap Television production values, Karaoke quality soundtrack, and poorly focused narrative, these legendary comedians definitely deserve something better than this.

Prisoners (2013) Austin Kennedy This movie is a well crafted dramatic thriller that will keep you guessing until the film's conclusion. Even with Melissa Leo's phony performance, it's one the year's most gripping films.

The Family (2013) Austin Kennedy De Niro is a hoot to watch, and the action scenes are a ton of fun. Unfortunately, the movie just couldn't find the right tone to be wholly successful.

Drinking Buddies (2013) Austin Kennedy DRINKING BUDDIES is a surprisingly complex and charming movie about 2 best friends who are at a crossroads in their lives. Olivia Wilde gives her best performance to date, and her chemistry with Jake Johnson is a joy to watch.

Short Term 12 (2013) Austin Kennedy With the exception of a clichéd plot device, SHORT TERM 12 is a tough but charming movie that is full of raw emotion and features a star-making performance from Brie Larson.

Museum Hours (2012) Austin Kennedy What should have been a beautiful, contemplative piece of art, ends up being a self-indulgent bore. You'd be much better off going to your local art museum than sitting through this reject of an art film.

Brigadoon (1954) Austin Kennedy It definitely has a dreamlike quality to it that is simply endearing. The story is charming and the dancing is entrancing. Apart from Johnson's heartless character, this is a very enjoyable movie.

Thérèse (2012) Austin Kennedy THERESE is the type of French period melodrama that scares the common moviegoer from watching anything with subtitles. With no real focus or intriguing characters, this movie is a chore.

Fruitvale Station (2013) Austin Kennedy This isn't a movie that grabs you by the throat, it's one that sneaks up on you and gets under your skin. FRUITVALE STATION is an authentically raw motion picture that I won't soon forget.

R.I.P.D. (2013) Austin Kennedy Many critics have been comparing this to MEN IN BLACK, and I am going to have to disagree with that comparison. This is much more like MEN IN BLACK 2, and that's not a good thing!

The Conjuring (2013) Austin Kennedy This is a successful film thanks to Wan's unique vision and characters you can care about. Easily one of the best horror films I've seen in quite a while.

I'm So Excited! (2013) Austin Kennedy I appreciate what Almodovar was trying to do, but this comedy is just too broad for its own good.

Girl Most Likely (2012) Austin Kennedy It's a clichd-ridden quirky comedy that suffers from a "been there/done that" feeling that looms throughout it's running time.

Turbo (2013) Austin Kennedy The story is inspirational, but the movie isn't. Small kids will probably get a kick out of it, but parents will most likely be bored. I know I was. Even my 9 year old didn't care for it.

Grown Ups 2 (2013) Austin Kennedy It's plotless, pointless, soulless, but worse than all of those things.... it's just NOT FUNNY!!!

3.5/4
Pacific Rim (2013) Austin Kennedy PACIFIC RIM transports you into a world that could have been conceived by a 12-year-old boy. This movie is a total kick ass nerdfest that has nothing but love for the material it's tackling. Del Toro has made the best blockbuster of the summer!

2.5/4
The Ghost Breakers (1940) Austin Kennedy If it focused more on the comedy instead of a generic horror plot, then this definitely would have been a fresher comedy. Instead, it's just a mediocre movie that just so happens to have a few funny gags in it.

Around the World in 80 Days (1956) Austin Kennedy Michael Anderson's direction couldn't be more unimaginative and flat. A movie like this should be swimming in creative whimsy, and a sense of wonder. There's nothing of that sort here.
